About
H1Z1An open-world survival-horror game produced by Daybreak Games. H1Z1 has players attempt to stay alive amidst a post-apocalyptic where zombies have ravaged most of the population. Players must eat, drink, sleep, and battle both the undead, and other survivors in order to stay alive.H1Z1 is currently in Alpha, meaning it is being tested and frequently updated and changed, sometimes dramatically, to how the community responds. Glitches, errors, bugs, and other technical issues occur sometimes while playing H1Z1, but are corrected pretty consistantly. H1Z1 may glitch, crash, or otherwise be unpredictible, and patience and an open-mind is important when playing so as to not become frustrated. Weapons and other gear are periodically added, or changed as H1Z1 progresses. These updates include various types of firearms, melee weapons, and craftable weapons the player can make. The Community Marketplace allows for the trading, purchasing, and selling of clothing skins, weapons and equipment skins, and airdrop tickets. Crates are randomly dropped to players of H1Z1. Each player recieves a key when the game is first purchased, as well as a new crate everytime one is released. Additional crates and keys can be purchased in the marketplace. Players can Build Bases in order to create defenses and store equipment. Bases allow players endless customization on design, allowing for cooking, crafting, and even a garage to store a car. H1Z1 is a third-person game, but allows players to switch between third-person and first-person on most servers. Particular servers are locked so that players may only use the first-person perspective. It is recommeded that players switch between third-person and first-person as they see fit, if a particular point-of-view benefits the player's shooting, field of view, angle, or gameplay experience.

Characters
When starting a character on any H1Z1 server, the player must select a pre-exisitng range of characters available to choose from. They must then name said character. Character names may not contain spaces or certain symbols and must be unique. No two names on the same server may be the same. The same name, however, may be used on another server, if it is not already taken. Characters Include:Young White MaleOlder White MaleYoung White FemaleOlder White FemaleYoung Black MaleYoung Black FemaleCharacters alter physical appearance only and do not change the stats of the player in any way. Each character looks different and wears different styles and colors of underwear. Regardless of character selected, players will spawn with random stock clothing. Each server requires players to create a character, and regardless of death, players will spawn in the same character, and the same name, unless that character is deleted and a new one is created. H1Z1 is currently in the process of creating a system whereby players may select a pervious occupation for their character, which would in turn alter the characters stats in-game.
Survival
H1Z1 Survival relys upon the player's various resouces, including health, stamina, energy, and hydration, remaining above 0%, and the H1Z1 virus progression remaining below 100%. HealthA player's health in H1Z1 is lowered when a player is struck by a zombie, hit or cut by another player's melee weapon, shot by a gun, bleeding from a wound, being set on fire, or falling. Health will regenerate slowly over time but can also be raised by medical supplies such as gauze, bandages, dressed bandages, and first aid kits. Each bandage restores 10% health. Directional Markers will appear on screen in red to tell the player which direction they were hit from. Bleeding or being Set on Fire will continually lower a player's health until the fire in extinguished, or the bleeding has ceased on its own, or player heals with medical supplies. Minor bleeding is easily treatable whereas severe bleeding causes rapid health loss and is harder to treatDefenses such as Barbed Wire and Punjii Sticks will continualy cause damage to the player until they exit their contact with the defense. Bandages can be stacked on top of each other, or first aid kits, in order to heal the player quicker.First Aid Kits as well as bandages and painkillers can be used in anticipation of hostile encounters to lower the damage taken.DIfferent Attacks, from both zombies and players, including both melee and ranged weapons, have different probabilities of causing minor, or severe bleeding. Having a high comfort level will increase the rate at which one automatically heals over timeFirst Aid Kits cannot be stacked upon each other, and will waste themBleeding is visible both coming out of the player model, and staining the ground belowIf a player's health reaches 20% or below, a loud heartbeat sound will play to alert the playerExplosive Damage and Fall Damage often do not cause bleeding, but drasitcally reduce health____________________________________________________________________________StaminaStamina allows players to effectively run, fight, and heal correctly.Sprinting Running for long periods of time drains a player's stamina. At 60% Stamina, a player will start to breath heavy, and run slower. At 20% player's breaths heavier and slows down further. At 0% the player will stop running to catch their breath, and move very slowly until it is recovered. SleepingPeriodically while playing, one will become tired and need to rest on a bed, mattress, or sleeping mat. Resting taking 20 seconds. Not sleeping will result in the player becoming Very Tired.Being Very Tired will begin to drain the player's stamina to 0% until they rest.SubstancesCoffee with Sugar will replenish a player's stamina, as well as remove a player being tired. Swizzle is a player crafted drug causing players to hallucinate, but boosts stamina.Adrenaline Shot increases stamina to max, stops drain and increases sprint speedBoth Swizzle and Adrenaline Shot have negative effects on stamina recovery and health post-effect. ____________________________________________________________________________EnergyPlayers must eat food in various forms in order to replenish energy, and is either found or hunted. ScavagingM.R.E.s (40%) Canned Food (25%)Food can be found in refrigerators, cabinets, and dumpsters/trash cans.Canned Foods is turned into a single Scrap Metal once consumed. HuntingDeerRabbitWolfBearHunting can be completed by placing traps and snares around an area, which catch rabbits. Hunting can be dangerous, as wolves and bears can attack players and cause significant damage. An edged weapon is required to skin an animal, recieveing raw meat, animal fat, and deer bladder.Deer Bladder can be used to create deer scent, making deers less aware of the player's presence. Zombies can eat an animal's carcus before a player has the chance to cut it up. HarvestingBlackberries (1%)CornWheatPlayers can pick Blackberries from certain bushes, and can be combined into handfulls or juice.Farming operations can be started to grow wheat and corn to cook into food and other materials. CookingPlayers can craft meals that replenish more energy than typical food, as well as prepare raw meat for consumption, on a fire. Fires are accessed by making a campfire, a furnace, or a BBQ. Raw meat can be turned into steak, which can be turned into jerky with salt or a sandwich with survival bread made from wheat, greatly increasing the energy supplied. Consuming Raw Meat has a chance to cause Food Posioning, which can be cured with antibiotics____________________________________________________________________________HydrationPlayers need to consume water in various forms in order to avoid becoming dehydratedWaterPurified Water (40%)Stagnant Water (20%)Dirty Water (20%) Blackberry Juice (40%)Purified Water and Stagnant Water can be found in water bottles all over H1Z1's Map.Empty Water Bottles can in turn, be filled up with dirty or stagnant water to be purified by a fire. Stagnant Water and Dirty Water can be accessed at Water Towers and WellsRivers and Lakes contain dirty water that can be filled into empty water bottles to be purified. Drinking Stagnant Water and Dirty Water has a possibility of negatively effecting a player's healthFoodBlackberries (2%)Blackberry Juice (40%)Canned Food (5%)Canned Foods will say in the item description whether it replenishes some hydrationVery little hydration is contained within food, and eating food is inefficient to re-hydrate. ____________________________________________________________________________Comfort LevelA player's comfort level effects how quickly they regenerate health and stamina. Comfort Level can be increased by doing things that remind your character of a time before the apocalypseParticular Foods increase one's comfort food, partcularly coffee and "Mom's" company foodEating and Drinknig around a Campfire greatly increase a player's comfort level
Inventory
A player's Inventory tells that the equipment they are carrying, clothes they are wearing, and proximity items, as well as all skins and airdrop tickets the player has available. Clothing/EquipmentPlayers have the ability to wear several articles of clothing, and hold several weapons and equipment, and have the ability to store items inside their clothing articles and backpack.Players have weapon and equipment slotsWeapon Slot 1Weapon Slot 2Weapon Slot 3Equipment Slot 1Equipment Slot 2Multiple clothing slots exist, including;Head Face EyesChestBackChest ArmorBelt HandsPantsFeetCarrying Weapons/Clothing in a slot does not affect the bulk of the player's equipable containers. Organization The Inventory Menu allows players to organize their items into whichever articles of clothing or equipable container they may be carrying. Items can be dragged into different clothing articles, as well as dropped from a player's inventory entirely. Whole containers can be hidden from view.Items can be organized into a list, two columns, three columns, and just item icons. Proximity ItemsOn the left side of the menu is the "Proximity Items" section. When a player opens their inventory, all the items within a certain radius, whether they are in a nearby container or not, will appear here. Items outside a container can be picked up by the players. Players must interact with a container to be able to access its contents. The Alpha status of H1Z1 leads to bugs where not all proximity items will appear InteractionBy opening up the Inventory menu, players can interact with their items. This includes eating food and drinking water, unloading weapons, and dropping an item entirely. Items can be dragged instead of just clicked on. Dragging items allows players to either more quickly remove items from their inventroy, drag items into the "discovery" tab, and place items inside a container; including both storage containers, as well as campfires, barbeques, etc... The "Proximity Items" section of the menu, when the player is interacting with a container, will change to be the that container. Players can either add or remove items from the container this way. CraftingThe "Crafting" tab allows players to construct items out of the other items they have, containing a list of all the crafting recipes the player has learned, and the items currently available for craftingDiscoveryThe "Discovery" tab allows players to drag the items they have into up to four slots, and hitting the "Discover" button, which learns a recipe. Players must have the items needed to learn a recipe. When an item is placed into a discovery slot, other items are either highlighted or not available to be placed in, letting the player know which items no longer are needed for recipes, and which are. RadioThe "Radio" tab, assuming the player has an "Emergency Crank Radio" equipped, allows the player to turn the radio on and off, as well as change the selected channel. (1 - 40) GroupThe "Group" tab allows players to view other players within their group. The group leader can also use this tab to add/remove group members, as well as pass on group leadership to another. BuildThe "Build" section allows players an easier time constructing bases, showing which structures the player has available, and easier placement of structures to be more organized and strategic.Account Inventory Located on the bottom left, the Account Inventory shows players the various crates, keys, item skins, and airdrop tickets available for the player to use.

Some melee weapons, such as the Machete, and any Axe, have the ability to cut down treesMakeshift Hatchets and Combat Knives can be crafted using scrap metal, and sticks/branch. An edged weapon such as the Combat Knife, Axe, or Machete is needed to dissect animals. Equipment such as the Tatical Flashlight and Binoculars allows players to punch with their off hand____________________________________________________________________________Ranged WeaponsGuns and Bows in H1Z1 must be found, vary in damage and capacticty, and can be upgraded with special abilities and weapon skins;BowsMakeshift Bow; (35%, 100%)Wooden Bow; (35%, 100%)Recurve Bow; (35%, 100%)Crossbow; (35%, 100%)Arrow TypesWood ArrowFlaming ArrowExplosive ArrowFirearmsR380; (15%; 50%)M9; (17%; 100%)M1911A1; (25%, 100%).44 Magnum; (30%, 100%)12 Ga Pump Shotgun; (100%, 100%)AR-15; (25%, 100%)AK-47; (29%, 100%).308 Hunting Rifle; (64%, 100%)Guns can be modified using a Gun Upgrade Kit to become select-fire or attach a flashlight. Molotov Cocktails/Fire Traps set an effect area on fire, and any players who are within or enter the area, causing continual damage to the player until the fire is extinguished. Gas Grenades/Traps cover an effect area in toxic gas, causing continual damage to players exposed. Players exposed to gas will cough for a period of time, alerting other players to their location. Stun Grenades send out a big flash, blinding players with an all white screen for a period of time____________________________________________________________________________Ammunition Ammo is acquired killing other players, looting areas around the map, or crafting one's own. Looting: Ammo can be found in various areas all over the map, and is scattered in random locations within buildings, on tables, and inside containers, and carried by zombiesFile Cabinets within offices, gas stations, and houses are a likely place to find ammo, as are tables in campsites and shelves in supermarkets.Killing: Other players, especially those who are armed, are likely to be carrying at least small amounts of ammo they have scavanged around the mapCrafting: Ammo can be crafted by breaking down rounds into bullet components, and crafting new rounds of the desired caliber. Requires a workbench to complete, and makes collecting all ammo types valuble. It takes two bullet components to craft a single round of any caliber, making finding ammo on the map, rather than crafting it, more valuble and efficient. Arrows of all types can be crafted using just wood sticks, and other items in order to make fire or explosive arrows, and do not need a workbench to complete. ____________________________________________________________________________Weapon Repair All weapons in H1Z1 have a durability, which is slowly depleted with each use of the weapon. Weapons can be repaired with weapon repair kits.Weapon Repair Kits can be found in wrecked cars and trucks or taken from other players. Depending on the weapon, repair kits fix 250 or 500 durability, and are single-use. Gun Repair Kits can be crafted by breaking down guns into gun parts using a workbench. Parts can be made into a Gun Repair Kit, fixing gun durability more than a standard weapon repair kit.Max Durability is the highest level of durability a weapon has, essentially how often the weapon can be used without being repaired. If a player dies with a weapon, the max durabiity is reduced by 200. Each time a player is killed with the weapon, the max durability is further reduced. If an item's durability reaches 0, the item will break, resulting in a Broken Metal Item, depending on the item, which can be used in crafting.

H1Z1 VirusThe Zombie Outbreak began due to the H1Z1 virus infection people rapidly all over the globe. At the Hospital, notes and medical items can be found implying that Doctors and Scientists attempted to fight and cure the spread of H1Z1. Players can become infected over the course of the game. Scattered NotesPlayers can find scraps of paper with scribbled notes written by people as the H1Z1 outbreak began to take place. These notes are written by Doctors, Military Personal, Parents, and Children. The Hand-Drawn Map has notations written by players regarding the H1Z1 outbreak. Military Presence Located around the map are Military Checkpoints as well as a full Military Base and scattered outposts which implies heavy military action prior to the start of the H1Z1 game. Military clothing, weapons, and equipment can be found all over the map. This leads players to infer that the United States military attempted to fight back against he Zombie Outbreak, yet lost, as there are no NPC military personal within the game.

Explosives vary in effectiveness, with I.E.D.s being the most effective for raiding another player's base. Once a door or gate has been destroyed, players can enter the base and raid the items stored within. The expolsions are loud and attract other players, including the base owners. It is best to store as many explosives as possible before attempting a raid. It is best to be well-armed and prepared for combat and a quick get-a-wayI.E.D.s are the most effective explosive for Base Raiding, but still require more than expected, it is best to be as stocked up as possible before embarking on such endeavors.Players can choose strucutes that are already damaged to reduce the explosives needed, time required, and danger, as these structures are owned by players unattentive of their base regularly. Base Raiding is typically most effective using a Vehicle and Group of players for defense and storageIt is recommended that players remain friendly with their neighbors to avoid raids and help defend one another's base, trade supplies, and embark on missions together
Communication
There are several ways for players to communicate with one another in H1Z1Hand SignalsPlayers can use several different Emotes to convey messages to other players, especially if they do not have a microphone. Emotes such as "Wave" and "Hands Up" and "Follow Me" may be important when interacting with other players so as to stay alive.Proximity ChatUsing Proximity Chat, players can use their microphone to speak within the H1Z1 world up to a certain distance, wherein it will no longer be audiable to players outside that range. Chatting this way allows all other players to hear conversation and gives away location, and can attract zombies.Emergency Crank RadioA device that is found randomly throughout the H1Z1 map, Emergency Crank Radios allows players to communicate with other players anywhere on the map, so long as they both have a radio. Radio's can be turned on/off, and have 40 channels to choose from. Group ChatPlayers can use Group Chat to speak with each other without any other players outside the group being able to listen.
